Hey there I love teaching and have been teaching yr 7&8 students for a number of years. I enjoy the concept of Intermediate and Middle schools, as I believe these years give students an opportunity to discover new skills and grow in self-confidence as they develop into young adults. I have two beautiful daughters, and my husband and I enjoy family time, generally in some part of our amazing country! I love music, art and spending time with friends and family.
Our Class - Rm 7
We are a composite year 7&8 GATE class, who learn in a collaborative environment. Our classroom doesn’t look like a ‘normal’ classroom, rather we have a range of areas within our room that we can work. Sometimes we are at tables, sharing ideas and working with others, or maybe in a beanbag reading a book. We use computers to support our learning and online tools to extend our learning space outside of the classroom. We have fun and our class treaty is based on supporting each other to reach our full potential.
Our School - MIS
At MIS our vision is to EMPOWER each individual to reach their personal best. We do this in a culture of the 3C’s (Courtesy, Common Sense and Consideration). Our curriculum is based on 21st Century concepts and can be described as a railway track. The two parallel lines represent the knowledge that we need to learn (using Language Symbols and Text) and the concept of ‘Thinking’. The rungs that hold it all together are the key competencies, found in the NZ curriculum - Managing Self, Relating to Others, Participating and Contributing. Each idea is equally important and all work together to create a powerful learning environment.
