Science Investigation Assessment - Due FRIDAY
Over the last 6 weeks we have been learning how to set up a correct Science investigation write up and have learnt about what we need to do to carry out a successful investigation.
It is now time to assess what you have learnt.
I will give you the study question and you will be required to set up an investigation and carry it out. You may use your science book and follow the other experiments, to help you get the lay out correct.
You will need to think about each section of the write up as well as what variables there might be.
This study question does not easily lead to collecting measurable data, so your results will be very observational, but need to remain factual.
You will need to research the ‘science’ behind what your results have shown, so that you can include it in your details conclusion. Remember to explain scientific ideas and words within your conclusion, so show your level of understanding.
Have fun!!

Study Question:
How does light reflect on Rough and Smooth Surfaces?

Week 1
Just a reminder you need to hand in your Science Fair topic and 10wk plan to Mrs C on Friday

Looking After Our World - Tm 2011@M.I.S
Key Concept: All living things need to adapt in order to survive in different environments.
Purpose: To use our inquiry model to develop and apply Scientific Concepts from the Living World.
Specific Learning Outcome:
Students will be able to…
· Explain what it means to be a living thing.
· Understand what mutually exclusive categories are.
· Explain why animals develop adaptations.
· Understand that many adaptations which animals developed will be dependent on where they are on the food chain.
· Explain that animals live in niches to suit their particular lifestyle.
· Explain that animals avoid competition by adapting to certain niches, in order to better survive.

Each gash in its battered body oozed mortar, and stone tears fell uncontrollably, helplessly, to form puddles of memories and dust. Agonising shards of glass pierced its heart and the breath was shocked from its lungs, leaving it winded and gasping for life. The once lofty, proud tower now slumps, broken, and powerless, as if its soul has been severed, and its innards have been exposed to the elements. Will paramedics be able to save the dying Cathedral?
