This writing is some of the descriptive writing that we have been doing in class. We are focusing on what makes a great piece of descriptive writing and making the reader feel as if they are there.

As the stream sparkles in the sun the light seems to bounce off it. Reflections of the tall pine trees in the stream look as magnificent, lush and green as they are standing on the rocky bank. They are tall and vivid with colour from the foot of the tree by the fresh grass and the silver rocks to their tops that are towering high up in the cloudless sky, which is brilliant and blue as the orange sun dances across it. The giraffe was the tallest animal at the zoo. Their head was as checkered golden yellow and as brown as chocolate. It was also shaped like a horses head. Their necks, also checkered, were 3 meters long, so they could reach up and eat out of bushy trees. The giraffes body was an oval shape that was covered in silky hair and wobbled when it moved. It looked like the body had just been placed on top of its long, skiny legs. On the bottom of the giraffes legs were dark brown hooves, that help them move, one on each foot. The hooves were coated in a thick layer of dust from the enclosure, that was full of sand, and running around alot.
Her hair is dark brown like a fresh bar of chocolate. She swiftly moved her hand to sweep a fallen piece of hair out of her navy blue eyes. Her eye lashes are thick and black like the colour of coal. She licked her pink lips with her spotty tongue. Her new school uniform hung loosely round her skinny body, with her long slender arms sticking out from her white school blazer. Her fingers are small and long, just like her toes on her big, tanned feet.
